Point Blank Tequila was recently featured on The Agave Social Club podcast, hosted by Doug Price — a respected voice in the world of tequila, known for spotlighting brands that value authenticity, process, and purpose.
In the hour-long April 8, 2026, episode, Price talked with members of the Point Blank team — Founder Andrew Summersett; Master Distiller Zandra Gomez Santiago; and Aldo Garcia, son of Don Jose Garcia, the owner of Destiladora Agave Azul, the tequila production company behind Point Blank.
They came together for a candid conversation that went far beyond tequila in a bottle. It was a discussion rooted in legacy, craftsmanship, transparency, and what it truly means to make tequila the right way.“This podcast was another fantastic opportunity to share our story, which we absolutely love to do,” Summersett said. “To be able to do that with Zandra and Aldo was especially meaningful because Point Blank doesn’t exist without them — they’re like family.”

A Conversation Rooted in Purpose
From the beginning, Point Blank Tequila was never meant to be just another label entering a saturated market. As Summersett shared during the episode, the vision was always bigger than that. It was about building a brand that invites people into the world of tequila — into the land, the people, and the process.
During the podcast, the team gets into the full story behind Point Blank — how it started, what sets it apart, and what it takes to build a tequila brand today. They talk about Santiago’s approach to distillation, the Garcia family’s role in shaping the process from hand harvesting Blue Weber agave at peak maturity to eco-conscious production, and why transparency and additive-free tequila matter more than ever.
They also get into the details that make the Point Blank distinct — from the flask-shaped bottle inspired by the old-school pachita once tucked into saddlebags — to the real-life donkey behind the label, Nacho, who’s part of the everyday life at the distillery in San Juanito de Escobedo.
It’s a conversation that covers both the craft and the character behind Point Blank Tequila.

Honoring Tradition Through Craft
One of the most powerful parts of the episode was hearing directly from Zandra Gomez Santiago, Point Blank’s award-winning female master distiller, whose discipline, expertise, and commitment to traditional tequila-making are at the heart of Point Blank.
Speaking in Spanish, Santiago talked about the pride she feels in crafting an honest tequila — one that respects the process and stays true to what tequila is meant to be. She also made clear that she will not compromise on quality, authenticity, and transparency.
That commitment is reflected in all three of Point Blank’s expressions — Blanco, Reposado, and Anejo — each crafted from:
- Mature Blue Weber agave, cultivated with care at Destiladora Agave Azul, the family-owned agave plantation, distillery, and composting facility in San Juanito de Escobedo
- Slow cooking in traditional brick ovens to preserve depth and character
- Natural fermentation and meticulous distillation
- A commitment to purity and authenticity
No shortcuts. No manipulation. No additives. Just extraordinary tequila, exactly as it should be.

The Legacy Behind the Liquid
The episode also featured Aldo Garcia, director of sales at Destiladora Agave Azul, and the son of Don Jose Garcia, the patriarch of the renowned agave plantation and distillery behind Point Blank — a man deeply devoted to the craft and culture of authentic tequila-making.
Garcia shared what it meant to grow up at Destiladora, with agave fields and the distillery serving as his childhood playground before becoming his life’s work. His story reflects the spirit of Point Blank — shaped by a real place, a real family, and a real commitment to carrying tradition forward.
Garcia also described the distillery’s full-circle philosophy — a 360-degree process that begins in the agave fields, continues through distillation, and extends into composting and sustainable agricultural practices that give back to the land. For Point Blank, sustainability is not a marketing angle. It’s how we honor the land where this tequila comes from.

Transparency Matters
One of the most important themes throughout the podcast was transparency.
As consumers become more aware of what is happening in the tequila category, conversations around additives, honesty in production, and respect for traditional methods matter more than ever. Price brought that topic forward, and the Point Blank team was proud to speak openly about what Point Blank stands for.
“Our goal has always been simple,” Summersett said. “We say what’s in the bottle. Point Blank.”
That means creating tequila with integrity, being honest about our process, and giving people something they can trust — whether they are longtime agave enthusiasts or just beginning their tequila journey.
Summersett said one of the most rewarding moments is watching someone take their first sip of Point Blank and realizing it’s different from the tequila experiences they may have had before.
“It’s crisp and clean,” Summersett said. “You’re not left with this overbearing aftertaste, this overbearing bite. There’s no burn. There’s no tequila face. People say, ‘Gosh, it feels clean. It feels crisp.’ That is the agave shining through there. We’re proud of it.”

More Than a Brand
What made this conversation especially meaningful was the shared respect between everyone.
Price recognized what Point Blank has always been about — collaboration between the founder, master distiller, owner of Destiladora Agave Azul, and the local community. It is about honoring the people who make the tequila possible and telling the story the right way.
“We are proud to build a brand that celebrates Mexican heritage, values sustainability, embraces transparency, and delivers tequila with exceptional character,” Summersett said. “And we were honored to share our story on The Agave Social Club.”
