Founder Andrew Summersett

Andrew Summersett has always been passionate about tequila.

Not only is it his drink of choice, but he’s long been fascinated by its production and the complex journey from agave to glass.

“Tequila is special, in part, because you can’t just make it in your backyard,” he said.  “Beer, sure, you can brew it in your basement. You can grow grapes at home and make wine.

But tequila is unique in that you have to go to the region of tequila. You have to go to Jalisco.”

Unlike other spirits, tequila is bound to its land and its people. By law, it must be produced in select regions of Mexico — specifically, the state of Jalisco — under strict government regulations. The high barrier to entry, combined with the artistry and labor-intensive process required to craft it the right way, is what drew Andrew in.

“I’ve always been intrigued by tequila,” he explains. “It’s culturally rich, full of heritage, and incredibly complex to make. There’s so much red tape, so many steps, and so many people involved. But what you get in the end is something ultra pure — a spirit that tells a story of authenticity.”

An Entrepreneur at Heart

Andrew Summersett has always had an entrepreneurial spirit.

Growing up in Texarkana, he admits he “didn’t love sitting in a formal classroom.”

“As a kid, I was always creating a business or selling something, always trying to get people to see a vision or follow me into an endeavor,” he said. “I was always trying to create or fabricate something new out of nothing.”

After graduating from Texas High School, Andrew headed to Baylor University, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration. Later, he earned his master’s degree in International Business from St. Mary’s University.

He went on to build a successful career in real estate, raising capital and developing projects across residential, commercial, and multifamily spaces. That work sharpened his ability to identify opportunities, create plans, and bring people together to build something new and exciting.

“Real estate has taught me how to be creative and strategic at the same time,” he says. “In a lot of ways, tequila isn’t that different — you’re building something from the ground up and inviting people to experience it with you.”

Creating Point Blank

Every great product begins with a concept. And for Andrew, tequila represents more than just taste. It represents truth, authenticity.

While whiskey, wine, or beer never felt like his calling, tequila checked every box. Grown from Blue Weber agave in rich volcanic soil, tequila is one of the hardest spirits to make. And it can’t be rushed — at least not if it’s made the right way.

True tequila takes years of patience, precision, and craftsmanship. From planting and nurturing the agave, to harvesting each piña at peak maturity, to slow-roasting in traditional ovens, it’s a process that demands an extraordinary level of care at every step.

For Andrew, that dedication to purity and honesty became the foundation of Point Blank Tequila

In fact, it’s how the tequila earned its name.

“It’s matter-of-fact, unapologetically authentic,” he said. “There’s nothing to hide.”

He said the mission of Point Blank is simple: to honor the tradition of tequila-making while cutting through noise and pretense — keeping the focus on the land, the process, and the people who bring it to life.

It shines the spotlight on those who actually create tequila: the jimadors, the master distillers, and the families who have carried the craft for generations.

“I want Point Blank to tell a story through the eyes and ears of the people who live it every day,” Andrew said.

Bringing Point Blank to Life

Turning passion into reality takes more than inspiration —   it takes the right partners, the right place, and an unwavering commitment to the craft.

For Andrew, that meant finding people who shared his belief that tequila should be made with integrity, authenticity, and respect for tradition.

Through this vision, he partnered with Jeff and Bill Foss from Colorado — a father-son team and tequila industry veterans with decades of experience.

Together, they found the perfect home at Destiladora Agave Azul, a family-owned agave plantation and distillery in San Juanito de Escobedo in the state of Jalisco, the birthplace of tequila.

There, under the leadership of owner Don José García and his family, and guided by the expertise of master distiller Zandra Gómez Santiago — one of the few women leading in a male-dominated field — Point Blank was born.

The result? Three distinct expressions — Blanco, Reposado, and Añejo — made from the finest Blue Weber agave, hand-harvested by skilled jimadors, slow-roasted in traditional ovens, naturally fermented, and distilled with precision and care.

Just as importantly, Point Blank is built on sustainable practices: agave waste is composted and returned to the fields, and nothing is added that doesn’t belong. It is a cycle that gives back to the land as much as it takes, ensuring integrity and respect at every step.

Even the bottle reflects the team’s commitment to sustainability, crafted from 100% recycled glass with labels made from agave fiber and closures from recycled metal.

Every element of Point Blank honors the heritage of tequila while delivering a clean, ultra-smooth experience.  No gimmicks — just pure, 100 percent additive-free tequila that speaks for itself.

More than a Visionary

To be sure, Andrew isn’t just the visionary behind the brand. As often as possible, he travels from his home in Aledo, Texas, to put boots on the ground at Destiladora Agave Azul, actively learning and working alongside the people behind the process.

He has built relationships that have grown from partnerships into friendships and from friendships into family.

For him, Point Blank isn’t just a business — it’s a chance to tell the story of tequila the right way, honoring the land, the people, and the process.

â€śEvery time I go down there, I go to learn the right way,” he said. “I go to learn what’s efficient, what’s not, to understand the process of making tequila. These aren’t just partners; they’ve become family. We’re in this together.”

Looking forward, Andrew sees Point Blank as a major player in the premium tequila space. With a world-class master distiller, sustainable practices, and a product that embodies integrity and innovation, Point Blank is destined to leave a lasting impression.

Andrew Summersett wouldn’t have it any other way.

“This is a tequila made the right way – the honest way, the hard way,” he said. “No shortcuts. No secrets. That’s Point Blank.”
